Artwork Guidelines

Artwork Submission Guidelines — Matt’s Print Shop

Effective Date: 17/11/2025
Last Updated: 17/11/2025

To ensure the best possible print quality, please follow the artwork guidelines below when submitting files for custom stickers, posters, signage, and printed products.

1. Accepted File Formats

We accept the following file types:

  • PDF (preferred)

  • AI (Adobe Illustrator)

  • EPS

  • SVG

  • PNG (high resolution)

  • JPEG/JPG (high resolution)

Not recommended:
Screenshots, Messenger images, low-resolution web images, or compressed files.

2. Resolution Requirements

For sharp, professional prints:

  • Minimum resolution: 300 DPI

  • Images from the internet (72 DPI) will print blurry or pixelated

  • Larger prints (posters/signage) may be acceptable at 150–200 DPI depending on viewing distance

  • We will notify you if your artwork is too low-quality to print well

3. Size, Dimensions & Bleed

To ensure accurate cutting:

  • Submit artwork at the exact size you want it printed

  • Include 3mm bleed on all sides for full-bleed designs

  • Keep important text/logos at least 3–5mm away from the edge

  • For stickers with borders, use at least 3mm border thickness

If you’re unsure, we can add bleed for you (fees may apply).

4. Colour Mode & Profiles

  • Submit artwork in CMYK where possible

  • RGB files will be converted to CMYK and may experience colour shifts

  • Eco-solvent printers can produce vibrant colour, but exact colour matching is not guaranteed

Important:
Colour may vary up to 10% due to materials, laminates, coatings, and printer calibration.

5. Cut Lines (for stickers)

If you are supplying your own cut lines:

5.1 File Requirements

  • Use a vector cut line

  • Name the stroke colour:

    • CutContour (for kiss cut)

    • PerfCutContour (for die cut)

  • Set stroke to 0.25–0.5 pt

  • Use a spot colour for cut lines

  • Place cut lines above all artwork layers

5.2 What we can do

If you cannot create cut lines, we can:

  • Add cut lines for you

  • Adjust borders

  • Rebuild simple shapes

Complex or detailed cut paths may incur a design fee.

6. Safe Zones & Borders

For best results:

  • Avoid thin borders (<3mm) — they may appear uneven after cutting

  • Keep all important text/logos within a safe zone

  • Allow room for cutting tolerance of ±2mm

This is standard for all vinyl and sticker production.

7. Fonts & Text

To avoid font issues:

  • Outline/convert all text to curves before sending

  • Or include the font files if sending an editable file

  • Minimum recommended text size:

    • Stickers: 6pt and above

    • Signs/posters: depends on viewing distance

Small text may print fuzzy on eco-solvent vinyl.

8. File Quality Disclaimer

Your final print depends heavily on the quality of your artwork.

We are not responsible for poor print results due to:

  • Low-resolution images

  • Blurry or pixelated artwork

  • Screenshots

  • Wrong dimensions

  • Incorrect colour format

  • Artwork supplied with errors

We will notify you if we foresee issues, but final responsibility lies with the customer.

9. AI-Generated, Upscaled, or Recreated Artwork

If you provide:

  • AI-generated designs

  • Upscaled low-res images

  • Screenshots of logos

  • Blurry or damaged artwork

We will do our best to improve it, but:

  • Results vary depending on source quality

  • Final output may not perfectly match the original

  • No refunds or reprints are given for artwork-quality issues

10. Proof Approval

Before printing, you may receive a digital proof.

By approving the proof, you confirm that:

  • Artwork is correct

  • Spelling is correct

  • Sizes are correct

  • Colours are acceptable

  • Cut lines and borders are correct

Once approved, no further changes can be made.
Reprints caused by incorrect proof approval will incur additional charges.

11. Copyright & Licensing

By submitting artwork, you confirm that:

  • You own the rights to the artwork or

  • You have permission to use it

You agree to indemnify Matt’s Print Shop against any copyright or trademark claims.
